CRANKSTWEEDRIDEGIVING!

Let’s just say you’d better be on your bike this SATURDAY, November 10th!  TWO GREAT RIDES are double-booking the day, so you’ll have to decide whether to join the 10th Annual Philly Tweed Ride, which meets 11 am at the Waterworks behind the Art Museum on Saturday. tweed

OR help get food out there to our fellow Philadelphians in need with CRANKSGIVING:

CRANKSgiving

Cranksgiving helps a great cause, and has a less strict (as in no) dress code. The Tweed Ride requires a sartorial effort, but is an awesome trip into a fantastic, imaginary cycling past of dandies and quantrelles on two wheels.

We couldn’t decide either, so we pitched some swag to each of these events.  Flip a coin, ask your friends what they’re doing, check your closets…

It’s your call.

AND FINALLY, remember that TROPHY BIKES is now on a FALL HOURS FOOTING: Which just means we are OPEN 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10-4 sat + sun. Our cheerful mechanics are ALWAYS ON DUTY, at Trophy Bikes 712 N. 2nd St. , PHL.

PHILLY BIKE EXPO: Get Ready!

Trophy Bikes returns to the

PHILLY BIKE EXPO on Oct. 27-28!

We will offer our bike theft countermeasures workshop at noon, both days (free with Expo admission), and we’re doing two morning rides, which both end up at the PA Convention Center for the Expo.

On Saturday, 10/27, Brompton owners are invited to the Brompton Breakfast Roll, an all-Brompton event.  The B-Roll meets 8:45 a.m. sharp at the central info booth in Amtrak 30th Street Station. We’ll roll around town and end up at the Expo just in time for doors open– and all you Bromptoneers get in for free.

NOTE–this ride is BROMPTON-ONLY.

(Looking for rough stuff? Scroll down for Sunday’s ride…)

EARTHvs2018

The PHILLY BUMP!, presented by 26-inch-lifestyle, is our invitation to test your bike handling skills and your sense of humor. Meets 10/28, at 8:44 a.m. in front of Trophy Bikes. Bring your chunky-tired bike, helmet, tube and tools. We’ll bounce over Philly’s worst cobble, brick, gravel, potholed-and-railroad-tracked historic streets–along the way, we will have a very polite foot-down cobblestone DERBY, and everyone on the ride gets into the Expo for FREE at the end. (including secure valet parking for what’s left of your bike)

IF YOU’VE READ THIS FAR: Please note that our FALL SCHEDULE snaps into effect on

MONDAY, Oct. 15th.

We trim 60 minutes from the end of our weekdays…

i.e., we’re open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon. through Fri.  (instead of 7, as in the summer).  Weekend hours remain at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat. + Sun.

BIKE WASH FOR THE NACCC! • Saturday, 9/22, noon to 2 p.m.

washNACC

PLEASE BRING YOURSELF – and THAT DIRTY BIKE OF YOURS to TROPHY BIKES, at 712 N. 2nd Street in Northern Liberties PHL. We will wash your faithful steed…  and YOU (we hope) will give a GENEROUS TIP – 100% of which will go to the NORTH AMERICAN CYCLE COURIER CHAMPIONSHIPS in Philadelphia Oct. 4-8.

ALSO: The NACCC needs you! Check their website to find out where the biggest courier races of 2018 will be held, AND check for volunteer opportunities. Here’s that VOLUNTEER LINK.

ADVANCE NOTE: Closed on Thanksgiving and #GetOutside day (a.k.a. Black Friday)

One of the important things about bicycling is that you can choose your own path.  The current consumer tsunami that is Thanksgiving and Black Friday, as currently practiced, are, um, the opposite of that.  We are in total agreement with REI and other enlightened retailers that being closed on these days is a win for staff and citizens who can then get to hang with family and friends, or just ride off down the path alone for a while, even! Thus please note that we will be closed Nov. 23-24.

WE WILL BE BACK ON  DECK for Small Biz Saturday, Nov. 25th, starting at 10 a.m.

– to resume our semi-grueling 7-day/week schedule:

8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays • 10-4 Sat. + Sun.

Cheers, and enjoy your calories – and the rides that burn them off.

(NOTE: Trophy Bikes is at 712 N. 2nd St., though we started at 757 S. 8th, above)
