We’ll have a booth with lots of Brompton and Surly goodies, we’ll be doing an anti-theft demo, and BEFORE THE EXPO EVEN BEGINS, we’ll host URBAN IMPROV, the ride that takes you over, under and around historic central Philly before ending up (at about 10 a.m. we hope!) at the Expo’s front door. (Where we will enjoy secure indoor valet bike parking)
NOTE: THIS IS A BROMPTON and SURLY-FRIENDLY RIDE.
HOW FRIENDLY? Well, if you show up on either of these great bike brands, you’ll get $99 off any new Brompton, or $101 off any new Surly bike. And because we’re nostalgic, we will give you the same deal if you roll up on a classic BRIDGESTONE bicycle.
Should you be early for this ride? Maybe – the first ten to arrive get free tickets to the Expo. See you on Saturday, Nov. 2, 8:30 a.m, main info booth, Amtrak 30th Street Station, 30th & Market Streets, Philadelphia PA.
Let’s just say you’d better be on your bike this SATURDAY, November 10th! TWO GREAT RIDES are double-booking the day, so you’ll have to decide whether to join the 10th Annual Philly Tweed Ride, which meets 11 am at the Waterworks behind the Art Museum on Saturday.
OR help get food out there to our fellow Philadelphians in need with CRANKSGIVING:
Cranksgiving helps a great cause, and has a less strict (as in no) dress code. The Tweed Ride requires a sartorial effort, but is an awesome trip into a fantastic, imaginary cycling past of dandies and quantrelles on two wheels.
We couldn’t decide either, so we pitched some swag to each of these events. Flip a coin, ask your friends what they’re doing, check your closets…
It’s your call.
AND FINALLY, remember that TROPHY BIKES is now on a FALL HOURS FOOTING: Which just means we are OPEN 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10-4 sat + sun. Our cheerful mechanics are ALWAYS ON DUTY, at Trophy Bikes 712 N. 2nd St. , PHL.
We will offer our bike theft countermeasures workshop at noon, both days (free with Expo admission), and we’re doing two morning rides, which both end up at the PA Convention Center for the Expo.
On Saturday, 10/27, Brompton owners are invited to the Brompton Breakfast Roll, an all-Brompton event. The B-Roll meets 8:45 a.m. sharp at the central info booth in Amtrak 30th Street Station. We’ll roll around town and end up at the Expo just in time for doors open– and all you Bromptoneers get in for free.
(Looking for rough stuff? Scroll down for Sunday’s ride…)
The PHILLY BUMP!, presented by 26-inch-lifestyle, is our invitation to test your bike handling skills and your sense of humor. Meets 10/28, at 8:44 a.m. in front of Trophy Bikes. Bring your chunky-tired bike, helmet, tube and tools. We’ll bounce over Philly’s worst cobble, brick, gravel, potholed-and-railroad-tracked historic streets–along the way, we will have a very polite foot-down cobblestone DERBY, and everyone on the ride gets into the Expo for FREE at the end. (including secure valet parking for what’s left of your bike)
IF YOU’VE READ THIS FAR: Please note that our FALL SCHEDULE snaps into effect on
MONDAY, Oct. 15th.
We trim 60 minutes from the end of our weekdays…
i.e., we’re open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon. through Fri. (instead of 7, as in the summer). Weekend hours remain at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sat. + Sun.
PLEASE BRING YOURSELF – and THAT DIRTY BIKE OF YOURS to TROPHY BIKES, at 712 N. 2nd Street in Northern Liberties PHL. We will wash your faithful steed… and YOU (we hope) will give a GENEROUS TIP – 100% of which will go to the NORTH AMERICAN CYCLE COURIER CHAMPIONSHIPS in Philadelphia Oct. 4-8.

This Saturday, 11 August, we invite Brompton bike riders to join us in a “top-down” tour of the Philly Free Streets day. Philly Free Streets, now in its 3rd year, will turn Broad Street, from City Hall to Erie Avenue, into a car-free zone from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Our event will take advantage of the Brompton’s unique fold to take SEPTA up to the north end of Open Streets. We will meet at La Colombe Coffee Penn Square, on the SW corner of City Hall at 10 a.m. sharp. First, a quick lap around City Hall, then down into a cool, rumbling Broad Street subway car, which will rocket us to Broad and Erie in 16 minutes!
We’ll unfold and pedal back down 100% car-free North Broad Street to City Hall (4.6 miles, easy pace, lots of stops for photos) …and maybe a post-ride beverage at nearby Fergie’s Pub.
The ride is FREE (please bring $2.50 or your SEPTA KEY for the subway trip), but because of space considerations–Brompton bikes only, please. • • RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org with BUBS in the subject line to help us know how many Brompton riders to expect. THANKS!
Get that winter muck off yer Brompton folder at the Brommie Wash. From 11 to 2 on Sat., March 17, we’ll give your faithful bike a splash, a scrub and some chain lube too. You can help if you wish (we’ll give you gloves) or just cheer from the sidelines and yell, “You missed a spot!” from time to time. If it’s warm enough, we’ll go for a quick ride at 2 p.m., so bring a helmet and some money for a beer. Cheers!
